Chenzhou city which is the joint place of Hunan culture and Lingnan culture is more inclusive. It coagulated the essence of Hunan culture and Lingnan culture to form a unique subculture plate and cultivate the special blessing culture of Chenzhou city.

Blessing culture of Chenzhou city has a long history. In the ancient age, Emperor Yan- Shennongshi flied southeastward and tried thousands of herbals. Then stopped at Leijiang river of Rucheng county. He created different tools, medical & tea culture, and started the irrigation culture, which benefited all the masses.

Chenzhou is with over 2200years history from Qin Dynasty. After the struggle between Chu and Han, Liu Bang won the war and established Han Dynasty. “Legend of tangerine well” was firstly recorded in “Su Dan Zhuan” of “Liexian Zhuan”. Chen Menglei- One of the famous scholars, Yijing scholars and medicine scientists of Qing Dynasty collected Su Dan’s legend in “Medicine Celebrities (Yishumingliu Liezhuan” of his “Books Collections(Gujin Tushu Jicheng)” and Su Dan’t legend was well spread. “Legend of tangerine well” became one of the most famous stories in medicine history of ancient China, and tangerine became a symbol of medicine field that some books were named with it. Su Dan became the immortals of Taoism and Chenzhou city became the 18th blessing place of Taoism accordingly. One of the four great inventions of ancient China- papermaking technology was also generated there. 

In Tang and Song Dynasty, many famous poets as Li Bai, Du Fu, Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, Liu Yuxi, Qin Shaoyou, Zhou Dunyi, and etc. once traveled to Chenzhou city and left many famous poems there. Qin Shaoyou’s “Tashaxing-Chenzhou inn” and Zhou Dunyi’s “Ailian Shuo” laid great influence on the blessing culture of Chenzhou city.

In the modern times, Mao Zedong released the famous “three disciplines, six notices” in Chenzhou city in 1928; Zhu De and Chen Yi launched Xiangnan Intifada there which helped to rejoin Mao Zedong and Zhude and created a new page of Chinese revolution. Deng Zhongxia, Huang Kecheng, Ouyang Hai and some more excellent celebrities of China were from Chenzhou city. General Zhang Xueliang who was once arrested in Suxianling lived to 101 years by sharing the blessing of Chenzhou city. Chinese Women Volleyball Team won 5 consecutive champions.

Chenzhou city is also the birthplace of Kunqu opera- “representative oral cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage” which was approved by UNESCO. Many ancient folk dwellings were well protected there that visitors can enjoy the folk culture there.
